Humach Honored with Naming of Advanced AI and Cyber Science Bay at Missouri Western State University

Dallas-based technology provider recognized for its contributions to customer experience solutions and AI-driven contact center solutions.

Dallas, TX, May 28, 2024— In a significant milestone for both education and industry collaboration, Missouri Western State University (MWSU) has announced that one of the four specialty bays within the Convergent Technology Alliance Center (CTAC) will be named in honor of Humach, a leading national provider of technology-fueled customer experience solutions for businesses. The bay, dedicated to advanced artificial intelligence (AI), information technology (IT), and cyber science, will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research, hands-on learning, and practical applications.

Empowering Students with Essential Skills

The Humach Bay will house a Secure Operations Center (SOC), where students will learn to detect and respond to potential cyber threats. Additionally, it will feature a cybersecurity incident “war room,” providing a space for studying and combating security breaches. Equipped with computer forensics tools, the bay will enable students to understand post-incident scenarios and develop effective strategies to address cybersecurity challenges.

Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, President of Missouri Western State University, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “The resources housed in this bay will empower our students to engage in hands-on, applied learning. As they prepare for careers in cybersecurity or other information technology fields, they’ll gain essential skills and valuable experience.”

CTAC: A Collaborative Endeavor

CTAC, currently under construction on MWSU’s campus, represents a groundbreaking collaboration between Missouri Western State University and North Central Missouri College (NCMC). The center aims to meet workforce development needs in skilled manufacturing, construction, and related industries, including cybersecurity. The $12 million CTAC project is expected to open its doors in Fall 2024. Funding has been generously provided by the Missouri Western State University Foundation, NCMC, the State of Missouri, the City of St. Joseph, Buchanan County, and several local business, industry, and non-profit partners.

Tim Houlne, a 1986 graduate of Missouri Western, serves as the CEO of Humach. He expressed pride in the partnership: “MWSU, NCMC, and our other collaborators are investing in the development of a new and uniquely capable workforce. These innovative technologies have the power to transform the way the world operates for the better.”

Humach specializes in simplifying and streamlining customized customer experiences for some of the world’s leading brands. Their approach combines live agents, digital agents, and robust AI and automation technologies, allowing businesses to focus on their core operations. In 2023, Humach ranked 29th out of 5,000 businesses on Inc. Magazine’s list of the Southwest region’s fastest-growing private companies. The same year, Remend—an independent industry advisor group—named Humach the best AI/business process outsourcing provider, recognizing their excellence in managing technology costs

A Legacy of Innovation

“Just like the manufacturing and construction industries represented in CTAC that are evolving toward increasing productivity through the use of technology, our company’s heritage traces back to some of the earliest adopters of contact center operations more than three decades ago,” says Houlne, “And by leveraging technological innovations, we’ve been ahead of the curve ever since.”

Missouri Western previously announced the naming of other CTAC bays—the Gray Manufacturing Workshop Bay and the Altec Manufacturing Technology Bay—reflecting the center’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary learning and industry partnerships.
